A term used to describe the phenomenon which surrounds all sources of magic. Living creatures with the ability to use magic passively radiate a small aura, while nonliving sources of magic such as magitech devices only generate this aura when they are in use. Creatures that passively generate this aura (typically .5m radius) leave a magical “fingerprint” on ambient mana sources, such as air and water. When a magic power is in use this field expands to cover a larger area (typically .5m * active points), this is known as an “Active Sorcery Field”. Typically all Sorcery Fields, active or passive, are invisible to normal sight. However, some individuals do have visually striking Sorcery Fields.
Many individuals have learned to sense Sorcery Fields. This ability allows them to sense when magic is being used nearby. A rarer form of this ability allows the user to learn some specifics about the spell being used.
